MHC's Values & Methods
Values:
We value Scripture as accurate and true.
We value yielding to the Holy Spirit.
We trust the Holy Spirit to lead us in our daily lives, empower us to love others as Jesus does, and guide us through the sanctification process.
We value surrender at the feet of Jesus. This is where lasting life change happens.
We value prayer as essential to the Christian life.
We value spiritual maturity. We want believers to finish the race strong. We want to see people grow to be able to qualify as biblical deacons and elders.
We value unity in the church body of our city. We care for, resource, and pray for other ministries because we’re part of one body and we believe we’re not in competition with one another.
We value tradition. Christianity has ancient roots and we believe it’s important to connect regularly with those roots.
We value holding the territory that God has called us to even when it's uncomfortable. This includes in culture, vocation, location, and home.
We value being Culturally aware. We are in the world but not of the world. We are not culturally removed, and we are also unwilling to bend to the whims of culture.
We value leadership accountability.
We value financial transparency.
We value slowing down to get clarity.
We value strategic simplicity.
Methods and Practices:
Just as we value yielding to the Holy Spirit in our personal lives, we yield to the Holy Spirit in guiding our church, directing our services, and informing leadership decisions.
The messages we preach will aim to equip the saints, fuel our worship, and inform our praise.
We expect the overflow from private worship, prayer, and time in Scripture is what’s being brought to the congregation by leadership.
Prayer is our standard operating procedure.
The Fruit of the Spirit is our success metric.
Our love for one another is our evangelism strategy.
Jesus is the only Good Shepherd. Our job as leaders is to emulate Him in how we serve people, care for them, and maintain a safe and healthy church.
We care more about your soul than what you can offer us.
